Abstrak

A fishing ground (FG) is a region or area that is favorable for fishing. The location of FG will always be dynamic, always changing or moving with the movement of environmental conditions, which fish naturally will choose a more suitable habitat. This habitat is strongly influenced by the conditions or oceanographic parameters such as sea surface temperature, salinity, sea wave, depth, and the concentration of phytoplankton (chlorophyll-a). The method to find out the best fishing ground is based on a combination of parameters, chlorophyll-a, sea surface temperature, and sea waves that affect the dynamics of the movement of seawater both horizontally and vertically. In this paper we critically review the optimal way to predict fishing ground. We particularly look at the Genetic Algorithm modeling and the Cellular Automata model that simulates a time-series pattern of change of FG oceanographic parameters.
